Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Staff Council of Academic Employees, we would like to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a peaceful holiday season!

A light in dark times - the picture speaks for itself. In view of the various global crises and the geopolitical situation, the past year was undoubtedly once again very challenging both mentally and emotionally. But other problems, such as the abuse of power in universities or the educational situation in Germany – made obvious by the Pisa studies of recent years – also placed increased demands directly on you as academic staff and lecturers in the academic field; this will not remain without consequences for universities in the future. But we will face these challenges and problems together.

The current events show how important unity, solidarity and respect are in our dealings with one another. This solidarity brings light, hope and confidence into our everyday professional and private lives. We rely on cooperation and solidarity with one another and respect in our dealings with each other. We are impressed by your commitment to our university. Your passion for research, teaching and academic management despite all adversity deserves the highest recognition.

The festive season invites us to rest and reflection and is an opportunity to recharge our batteries and look ahead to the coming year with confidence. For the new year, we wish you good health, more light than darkness, a good working environment and continued success. May 2024 be a year full of inspiring discoveries and positive changes for us all.

With best wishes for Christmas,

Your PRwiss-Team
